Beta-testing opportunity for App-V 5.0 compatible AVE

Hello all,

We have been busy in work updating our Application Virtualization Explorer -product to be App-V 5.0 compatible (and many of you have already been asking about this from us, thanks for the interest!), and as you can probably guess, this has not been a trivial task due to the complete change of how things work [technically] in the App-V itself. But, rest assured, we are getting there hopefully sooner rather than later!

In anticipation of launching this “next generation” version of AVE that supports App-V 5 packages, I would like to open up a call for those interested in beta-testing the upcoming product. Remember, as things have changed completely on an App-V end, we also needed – and need to – change our product substantially as well. Concretely this means that not all of the features supported by App-V 5.0 packages are necessarily there in the beta, or that the new version have the feature parity to currently available AVE version (which will keep living as a separate entity alongside the new version; they will not be merged into single executable).

The plan is to first have a “read-only” -capable beta release of AVE which can be used to examine App-V 5 packages but cannot be used for saving modifications. The second beta will then add the save capability into product.

For those interested in testing the product, we really, really would like to receive a honest feedback on the functionality and correctness of how the new version works. This is your chance to make an impact on the product!  And actual availability dates for those two beta versions will be communicated later on to ones that have signed up.

If you think you can help us in beta testing AVE “vNext”, please send an email to avebeta@gridmetric.com address and we will add you to the list.
